What is AHA BLS Certification?
The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course is the clinical gold standard for healthcare professionals who respond to cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and choking emergencies. It is the certification your hospital, nursing school, dental program, EMS service, or clinical placement office almost certainly requires before you can begin patient care.
BLS differs from standard CPR in scope and depth. Where standard layperson CPR teaches the basics of compressions and AED use, BLS adds two-rescuer high-performance team dynamics, bag-mask ventilation as a single rescuer and as a team member, advanced airway management, opioid-associated life-threatening emergency response with naloxone, and the closed-loop communication patterns used in real resuscitation events.
At our Downtown Los Angeles / Financial District training center, you complete the cognitive portion of the course online through the AHA HeartCode platform on your own schedule, then come to 811 W 7th St, Los Angeles, CA 90017 for a private, one-on-one in-person skills assessment with an AHA-credentialed instructor.
