Which course does my workplace actually need?

If you are not sure which certification your team needs, you are not alone: most people who contact us for group training have never had to choose before. Here is the short answer.

Most workplaces need First Aid CPR AED. This is the course built for offices, schools, daycares, gyms, restaurants, retail locations, and construction or job sites, anywhere staff are not providing clinical patient care. It covers first aid for injuries, adult and pediatric CPR, and AED use, exactly what a general workplace responder needs.

Healthcare and clinical staff need BLS instead. If your team works in a hospital, clinic, dental practice, urgent care, or home health setting, they likely need the AHA BLS Provider certification, not First Aid CPR AED. See onsite BLS training in Columbus instead. If you are still unsure, tell us your industry on the quote form and we will confirm before you book.

How much does onsite first aid and CPR training cost?

Cost depends on your group size, your Columbus location, and whether your staff need first-time certification or renewal. There is no flat rate posted online because every workplace group is different.

Request a quote and we will send you an exact price for your team, with no obligation. Groups of 5 or more can book onsite; larger teams and multi-shift schedules are common and we price those the same way.

What does OSHA require for workplace first aid and CPR?

Under 29 CFR 1910.151, OSHA's general industry standard, employers must have person(s) adequately trained to render first aid on site when a workplace is not in near proximity to an infirmary, clinic, or hospital, along with first-aid supplies that are readily accessible. 29 CFR 1926.50 is the equivalent standard for construction sites.

Some industries go further and name CPR training specifically, including 29 CFR 1910.269 for electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, and 29 CFR 1910.266 for logging operations. Outside of those named standards, OSHA generally recommends AEDs rather than mandating them, and state and local rules on defibrillators can vary by facility type and jurisdiction.

OSHA does not set a fixed headcount or ratio of trained responders per employee. In practice, the standard employers work toward is trained coverage on every shift, so a certified responder is on site and able to respond within minutes, not a specific number of certified staff. A current Heartsaver or Red Cross First Aid CPR AED card, renewed every two years, is the documentation most employers use to show that coverage.

Because the exact rule that applies depends on your industry, headcount, and location, we recommend confirming the specific requirement for your Columbus business with OSHA or your safety consultant. Onsite First Aid CPR AED training from CPR Syndicate is built to help employers put trained, certified responders on staff, whatever the underlying requirement.

First aid CPR AED for offices, schools, daycares, gyms, and job sites

First Aid CPR AED training applies to nearly any non-clinical workplace. Here is how Columbus employers across different industries use it.

Offices

HR teams and office managers across Columbus book us to certify front-desk staff, safety wardens, and general employees so a trained responder is always on the floor.

Schools

Teachers, front-office staff, and after-school program leads get certified together so classrooms and campuses have trained responders during the school day.

Daycares & Preschools

Daycare directors bring us in to certify caregivers and lead teachers in pediatric-inclusive first aid, CPR, and AED response for infants and young children.

Gyms & Fitness Studios

Gym owners and studio managers certify front-desk staff and trainers so someone trained is present during every open hour on the floor.

Construction & Job Sites

Safety leads schedule onsite sessions around crew shifts so foremen and site staff are certified without pulling a full crew off a job for a day.

Restaurants & Retail

Managers certify shift leads and staff on-site, working around opening, closing, and slow-period windows so the class does not interrupt service.

Employees who complete our onsite First Aid CPR AED course earn the same credential taught in our AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course at our Columbus training center. We also offer Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR AED as an alternative track for workplaces that standardize on Red Cross certification.

How many employees do we need to book onsite?

We book onsite group sessions for Columbus workplaces of 5 employees or more. That minimum keeps onsite training cost-effective for both sides: below 5 people, individual course dates at our training center are usually the better option.

There is no upper limit. Large teams and multi-shift businesses regularly book back-to-back onsite sessions on the same day so every shift gets certified without closing the location.

Workplace Training Questions, Answered

Healthcare staff? They need BLS instead

Clinics, dental practices, urgent care, home health, and other clinical teams typically need the AHA BLS Provider certification rather than First Aid CPR AED.
